working and breastfeeding

Although, I am a fierce advocate for stay-at-home mothering, I realize that it is not possible for everyone. If you must return to work after having your baby, please consider continuing to breastfeed. Breastfeeding helps you develop, strengthen and maintain the bond with your baby despite being seperated during the day. It can be beneficial for your employer as well. Recent studies have shown that breastfed babies have 35% fewer illnesses than formula fed babies, resulting in a 27% decrease in the absence rate for their mothers.

Rep. Carolyn Maloney's Breastfeeding Promotion and Protection Act
"This bill addresses the harassment and discrimination that has been directed toward women who choose to breastfeed or express (pump) milk when they return to work.....The bill will ensure that free lunchtimes or breaks could be used for the expression of breastmilk, or ensure that additional unpaid breaks could be taken if breaks are not currently offered."
